So, What Is A Slide Master and why do you need to use one in your work from home business videos?

Although it sounds like a character from Star Wars, a Slide Master is in fact a template in PowerPoint, which stores information about the layout of your presentation. You can customise your Slide Master and then use this template for every slide in your slide show for your work from home business videos. I know it doesn't sound very exciting, but trust me, learning the basics will save you a lot of time when making a video presentation for your work from home business.

Ok, so let's get started.....

This is the opening screen of Microsoft PowerPoint. To find the Slide Master, click on View (up here on your toolbar) and then go to the Slide Master icon.

Now you'll notice that there are a number of Slide Masters down here in the left hand column, but to keep things simple and for a basic video presentation for your work from home business, I just use this initial Slide Master and edit it from here. You need to ensure that the slide is highlighted in order to start editing and then you can make changes such as deciding what font you like. Ok, so I'm going to go for Rockwell cos it looks a bit different.

So you might also want to change the background of your slides. To do this, you can right click on the slide. Go down to format background and then either choose a solid fill colour, by going down to colour, selecting which colour you'd like, let's choose a purple. Or going to gradient fill - again changing the colour down here and then you can play around with different levels of transparency, angles and directions. Ok, well I quite like that one, so I'm going to Apply to All and then Close.

Obviously, there are a lot more things you can do with the Slide Master for your work from home business video, but if you haven't used PowerPoint very much in your work from home business, or not at all, just changing the font and the background are a great place to start.

So, once you've made your changes, you can come up here and close Master View and then you're back to the opening page and as you can see, you've got your slide Master set up with your font and your background colour. And now you're ready to get started with your work from home business presentation, so simply click in the middle of your text box -- start typing...correctly, helps...and continue with your work from home business presentation.

To add more slides, you just need to click on the slide icon here and it will add in your slide masters. If you need to delete a slide, make sure it is highlighted in the left hand column and then just hit the delete button. Simple!
